WORKING PARTIES

PREPARING FOR A GREAT YEAR AHEAD

Just because plants aren’t growing much during the autumn and winter that doesn’t mean that the Tetbury in Bloom team can put our feet up and wait for it all to happen again. The team are still busy tidying the flowerbeds, planting spring bulbs etc. and will be and keeping an eye on everything throughout the winter as our sustainable planting slows down, becomes dormant through the winter and tentatively tries out a shoot or two before bursting forth in response to the warmth and lengthening days of the new spring. Winter for the team means less time tending the displays and more time planning and organising work and events for the coming year—though many of the team are also involved in “Christmas in Tetbury” and work to keep our town looking its best and being a great place to live and to visit even when our hardy perennials are having a difficult time.

2012 is going to be another busy, fun and (we hope) successful year.

Britain in Bloom Results 2011
Tetbury was a Finalist in the RHS Britain in Bloom National Finals 2011, in the Small Town Category.
At the awards ceremony held in St Andrews, Scotland, on 25th September,
Tetbury received a Silver Gilt award—narrowly missing out on a Gold according to the RHS Judges.

The regular maintenance routine is Tuesday and Thursday mornings,
starting at 9:30 and finishing usually 12-12:30
Time needed depends on how much there is to do, but “many hands make light work” does apply.
